This is a practice of Movie Key Art Design. Since the sea eventually devours both the mountain and the male protagonist's manhood, I thought the relationship between the divergent iconographies of the mountain and the seato to be particularly interesting. In addition, the mesmerizing presence of the eye—human eyes as well as camera lenses on electronic devices—inspired me to draw comparisons between the film's visual style and that of Alfred Hitchcock. I wanted to portray the male lead, Hae-Jun, as being stuck before eventually collapsing. I developed a poster that focused on the menacing presence of the eye and the overpowering force of the sea using these themes as a starting point.
